(PCM) A star-studded cast including Tobey Maguire, Elizabeth Banks, Laura Linney, and Ray Liotta star in “The Details,” which is available on VOD now and hits theatres November 2. The film is directed by Jacob Aaron Estes and is based on his own troubles with pesky raccoons after his wife became pregnant with their first child.
“Unfortunately for my new landscaping, raccoons began visiting the yard soon after my project was completed. It turns out raccoons are relentless predators, and they began flipping over corners of my new sod and digging in the dirt for worms and grubs, making my nice, new green carpet look frayed and worn even before my new family would have a chance to enjoy it,” Estes said in a director’s statement. ”So began a war with the raccoons, a war I would ultimately lose in dramatic fashion.”
In “The Details,” Jeff and Nealy Lang (Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks) have an idyllic suburban home… and a relationship on the skids. But, when a family of hungry raccoons ransacks their perfectly manicured backyard, Jeff becomes single-mindedly obsessed with eradicating the pests by any means necessary.
Soon the relentless rodents aren’t merely uprooting the lawn, but also overturning the Langs’ entire bourgeois existence, as the man-versus-beast battle leads into an absurd mess of infidelity, extortion, organ donation and other assorted mayhem.
